With the TexAnns prepping for Christmas break and now off until January 5, the team hosted their final game of 2016 Monday night with an exhibition against Northern New Mexico.
Tarleton's Bailey Wipff got the game's scoring started with a three-pointer, but the long range shot was responded with a three from Northern New Mexico on their ensuing possession.
With a 3-3 tie, the Lady Eagles saw their best chance of taking the lead diminish rather quickly as the TexAnns proceeded to go on a 15-0 run to take an 18-3 lead late in the first quarter.
Over the remaining minutes the Lady Eagles managed to cut Tarleton's advantage back to single digits, 19-11 at the intermission.
The second quarter was when the TexAnns put their foot on the gas as they outscored Northern New Mexico 29-11 in the frame to take a 48-22 lead into halftime.
Tarleton's Tiara Tatum finished the first half with a game high 12 points on 6-10 shooting.
Northern New Mexico failed to cause any issues for the TexAnns in the second half as Tarleton continued to hold and build upon their double digit lead before securing a 71-41 win.
Leading Tarleton was Tiara Tatum who only added one more basket onto her halftime total, finishing with 14 points and four rebounds.
Also scoring in double digits was Bailey Wipff with 13 points.
With the game being an exhibition, the win does not count towards the TexAnns record. The 4-6 TexAnns will be back in action on January 5 when they travel to take on Lone Star Conference opponent Angelo State.
