Following four straight Lone Star Conference tests, the Tarleton Texans are riding high with an impressive 8-1 overall record and a perfect 4-0 record in conference play.
Today the United States Collegiate Athletic Association competitor Southwestern Adventist travels to Stephenville for the team's final game before their tournament in Las Vegas over the break.
The two teams enter tonight's game riding streaks of polar opposite results.
Tarleton is in the middle of a five-game winning streak, while the Knights are still looking for their first win of the season and enter with an 0-12 record.
While looking at the record may set in fan's minds that the Knights aren't a threat, they have played some worthy competition thus far this season, including Division II programs Texas A&M-International, Arlington Baptist and one of the LSC's top teams this season, Texas-Permian Basin.
The Knights are led by a duo of seniors who are playing well, especially at the offensive end of the court.
JaColby Hardin-Crawford is the team's leading scorer averaging a whopping 18.3 points per game, while teammate Kevin Squarzon is posting an impressive 16.9 points per game to go along with 4.7 rebounds and 3.4 assists per contest.
Even though the Knights have some scoring options on the court, they will have their hands full with the Texans who boast one of the best defenses in all of Division II.
Through nine games, Tarleton is allowing only 61.2 points per contest which is good for the fifth best scoring defense in the country. To go along with total points scored, the Texans are also forcing their opponents to shoot an abysmal 35.2 percent from the field, the second lowest rate of any defense in Division II.
In addition to Tarleton's top defensive marks, Southwestern Adventist will also have to deal with the likes of Tarleton's top scorer Ridell Camidge who is averaging 14.1 points per game and post Romond Jenkins who is averaging a double-double each performance with 10.9 points and 10.7 rebounds per game.
The Knights and Texans are scheduled to get underway at 7:30 p.m. tonight inside Tarleton's Wisdom Gym.
