The blazing start continued for the Stephenville Honeybees Tuesday as they used a big first half to top Aledo and move to 5-0 on the season.
While Aledo came out of the gates scoring the first points of the game it was the Honeybees who had the last laugh.
After more than a minute of scoreless basketball, the Ladycats took a brief 2-0 lead after breaking the scoreboard's ice. However, that would be the only positive for Aledo in the first quarter as Stephenville proceeded to go on a 11-0 run to end the frame taking an 11-2 lead into the second quarter.
The Ladycats' offense did come alive in the second, but Stephenville's push strengthened as they continued to build their lead outscoring Aledo 18-10 in the quarter.
Combining for more than half of Stephenville's points in the first half were Tess Baker and Jayci Morton.
Morton finished the first half with a team high nine points, while Baker added an additional eight giving their team a commanding 29-12 lead at the break.
While the second half didn't consist of the same domination Stephenville exhibited in the first, the Honeybees did more than enough to seal a 52-32 win, despite a sloppy fourth quarter.
Leading the way for the Honeybees was Tess Baker who finished the game with a team high 14 points. Jayci Morton finished with nine points, while Jordan Carter and Ebony Green each added eight.
The Honeybees will be back in action throughout the weekend while they take part in a tournament in Granbury.
