With the 2017 Junior Livestock Show of Erath County coming Jan. 4-7, the Stephenville Chamber of Commerce is once again organizing a Buyer’s Pool to support area youth.
“Ideally, we encourage all local businesses to go to the sale and see firsthand our youth at work, but if you not able to attend, this is your opportunity to be involved,” the Chamber’s Administrative Service Director Cheri Edrington wrote in a release.
Donations as small as $25 will be accepted with most giving between $100-$500 and some more than $1,000.
“All donors will be recognized the night of the sale and in the newspaper and Chamber newsletter after the sale,” Edrington wrote. “Donors that give $1,000 or more will receive a special invitation to the Buyer’s Steak Dinner served by the youth exhibitors on Saturday, Jan. 7, at 5 p.m. before the sale.”
To register your donation please visit the Chamber of Commerce website at www.stephenvilletexas.org or call 254-965-5313.
“All funds will be used to support the youth and their animal projects at the Market sale. Last year we were able to invest over $25,000 in our youth,” Edrington wrote. “We encourage you to think about contributing even a small amount as they all add up. That is why this community is so special — when we work as a team, great things can happen in supporting our youth and recognizing their efforts.”
The Chamber’s pool will be used on the market animals, which includes steers, sheep, swine, goats, rabbits and poultry. A separate pool will be held for the dairy portion and to contribute to that pool folks are asked to contact Jason Beyer.
The Chamber will accept donations or pledges until Wednesday, Jan. 4.
“Again, we encourage all businesses and individuals to come to the sale and support the youth in person,” Endrington wrote. “It is only if you can’t be there the night of the sale that we offer the opportunity to contribute through the Buyer’s Pool.”
