The Honeybees began Thanksgiving break with a tough match up against Fossil Ridge that required an early comeback to stay undefeated.
In the early goings of the game it was Fossil Ridge who set the tone.
With the Honeybee offense struggling, the Lady Panthers did just enough to run out to an early 10-4 lead in the first quarter. However, it was only a matter of time until the Stephenville offense began to hit their shots.
Over the final few minutes of the quarter, Stephenville erased the six point lead and ended the quarter on an 8-2 run, which included a big three-point shot from Hailey Martin to draw level at 12 with Fossil Ridge heading to the second quarter.
The game's earlier roles were reversed in the second as it was Fossil Ridge's turn to go cold from the field.
Payton Wall hit two early buckets in the second quarter to extend the Honeybees' lead to four, before eventually running out to a 22-15 advantage late in the quarter.
Stephenville had a chance to take firm control of the game before halftime, but several poorly timed fouls allowed Fossil Ridge to hit three free-throws and head to halftime trailing only 24-18.
The slight advantage that Stephenville managed to grab in the second quarter did end up later sealing the game. Over the entire second half Fossil Ridge was outscored by a slim 25-22 margin.
Hailey Martin led the Honeybees offensively in the game finishing with a team high 16 points. Also finishing in double digits was Tesslie Baker who finished with 11 points, including seven in the first quarter.
With the win the Honeybees move to 3-0 on the season and have a quick turnaround as their scheduled to travel and take on Jacksboro tomorrow at 12:30 p.m.
