The TexAnns’ attempt to creep back up to .500 on the season was denied Saturday as Colorado State-Pueblo overcame an early deficit to defeat Tarleton 76-64.

The first quarter was where the TexAnns did most of their damage to the Lady ThunderWolves as Tarleton held a lead for eight minutes and 11 seconds of the quarter.

Pueblo scored the first bucket of the contest, which was shortly answered by a three-point shot by Tarleton’s Tiara Tatum. After a free throw tied the game at three, Baylee Peck, Bailey Wipff and Kylie Collins all hit three-point shots in what resulted in a 12-1 run for the TexAnns.

Leading 12-3 with 6:26 remaining in the quarter, Pueblo managed to cut into their deficit eventually outscoring Tarleton 9-7 through the remainder of the period to trail only 19-13 heading into the second quarter.

While the TexAnns managed to outscore the Lady ThunderWolves in the first quarter it would be the only one that they would do so.

Over the remainder of the game, Pueblo outscored Tarleton 63-45 to keep their undefeated 4-0 record.

Tiara Tatum and Bailey Wipff led the TexAnns Saturday as they each scored 12 points. Baylee Peck and and Mackenzie Hailey also had solid performances scoring nine points each.

The TexAnns are now 1-2 on the season and will be back in action on Tuesday when they travel to take on St. Mary’s in San Antonio. Tip off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
