Mary Meredith, director of the Stephenville Public Library, has announced three days of events this week including the introduction of the SPL Film Club.

“On Thursday at 6:30 we are hosting our annual Feasts of Treats with stories, a craft and a feast of Thanksgiving themed treats,” Meredith says. “We are asking patrons to please reserve a place for this event, and they can do so by visiting the library, calling us at 918-1240 or messaging us on Facebook.”

On Friday, the library will introduce its new SPL Film Club.”

Here are the details:

• This club is for adults only

• It will meet monthly

• A movie that is selected by club members will be shown

• The club will serve snacks and have a discussion after the film.

“Our first featured film is All the Way [unrated-mature audiences], an award-winning movie about President Lyndon B. Johnson’s tumultuous first year in office while trying to launch a civil rights bill,” Meredith said. “We will be serving Subway sandwiches, chips and cookies, but patrons may also bring their own snacks. Please make a reservation for the SPL Film Club by contacting the library.

“And lastly, we encourage our patrons to ‘just keep swimming’ all the way to the Stephenville Public Library on Saturday at 2 p.m. to see Finding Dory [PG] while snacking on popcorn and ocean-themed snacks.”

Meredith said no reservations are required as this is a first-come, first-seated event. Most seating is on the floor, so bring pillows and blankets if you wish.

“I am looking forward to a busy, fun-filled week and hope to see lots of patrons attend one or all of our events!” Meredith said.
