At Monday’s meeting of the Erath County Commissioners Court, Judge Tab Thompson recognized the work of County Clerk Gwinda Jones during the recent election cycle.

“I want to congratulate Gwinda, her staff and everyone who worked on the recent election. It went extremely smoothly and we owe her and all the others a big debt of gratitude. It could not have gone any better and we really appreciate all your effort,” Thompson said.

In other business:

• A $5,000 insurance bond covering the work of the Erath County fire marshal was approved.

• Erath County treasurer Donna Kelly delivered the quarterly investment report for the period ending Sept. 30, saying the total balance of funds is $21,574,788.53. Erath County has 10 percent in cash management accounts, 38 percent certificates of deposits, 25 percent in Texpool and 27 percent Cetera CD’s. Total interest earned for the quarter ending Sept. 30, 2016 is $29,181.30.

• The contract with Stryker EMS for various pieces of EMS equipment including servicing and inspections was renewed.

• A contract with PhysioControl for leasing and maintenance of emergency-services devices such as defibrillators - a package known as Life Pack 1000 - at the County Jail was renewed for one year.
