Count yourself lucky if you are one of the 360 ticket holders to tonight’s sold-out Dancing For the Stars event taking place in the Tarleton State University Ballrooms.

Six couples - Tracey and Jamey Brown, Cam and Lisa Fergason, Milam and Alana Hefner, Brandon and Whitney Lee, Julio and Emma Jimenez and Lance and Shelley Gilliland - are set to compete for that coveted mirror ball trophy in an effort to raise money for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Erath County.

BBBS Executive Director Sarah NcNeal-Weaver said she is excited for tonight’s event and is hoping to raise some much-needed money for the organization that pairs children and youth (Littles) with adult mentors (Bigs).

“As many people know, some of the smaller regions are being put on pause and closing their doors due to a lack of funding,” she said. “Our neighbors in Brownwood have closed their doors, which is devastating because it hits close to home.”

McNeal-Weaver went on to say the organization has a 100 percent promotion rate from grade to grade for each “Little” in their program.

“Our organization impacts the children of this community beyond measure,” she said. “My hope for this year’s dancing event is to see huge growth from this amazing and loving community.”
