Get into the holiday spirit with a trip to the Cage House

Word on the street is that Santa Claus will pay a very special visit to the Cage House Saturday - and he is even planning to take Christmas pictures with those who want them.

Amber Parks, owner of Parks Hill Technology & Marketing, is heading up the annual event, which will also include holiday music and a chance for children to decorate Christmas cookies and make postcards to send to the North Pole.

"When the regular team who hosts the event mentioned they were taking a year off, I asked permission to keep the tradition going. I wanted to ensure there was an opportunity for children to see a beautiful Santa and parents be able to have a professional capture that moment because it’s fun and important to the community,” Parks said. “But I’m not a photographer, I am an events and marketing person so I hired a professional photographer and assistant to take the photos who both have worked with my children before."

That photographer is Alex Shelley, a Tarleton State University alumni and former Tarleton employee.

The photos will be taken in a beautifully designed room inside the Cage House. There will even be a station set up to order Christmas cards.

Some photos with Santa will be printed on site, but family and group photos will be available for order from the photographer’s website.

The event will take place from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. and photos will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis.

When families arrive, they will be given a number and will decorate cookies and make postcards while listening to holiday music in the backyard.

“When their number is called they will go inside to take the photos,” Parks said.

A portion of the proceeds will benefit area Christmas giving projects.

In the event of inclement water, the event will move to City Limits.

The Cage House is located at 194 E. Long Street.
