At a special meeting on Oct. 18, the Stephenville City Council created a new position of deputy city administrator and Tuesday night appointed Jeremy Allen, directory of community services, to the job.
The work of this new position will be performed under the administrative direction of the city administrator and will be held in conjunction with a director position.
Allen will assist the city administrator in providing visionary, innovative leadership, supervision and general direction for the city management team.
The Public Works Department, Community Services Department, Planning and Building Services, Information Technology and Human Resources will be the responsibility of the deputy city administrator.
Finance, police and fire departments will still directly report to the city administrator.
Allen was hired by the city of Stephenville in December 2014 as the community services director. He has remained in that position while also serving as acting city administrator following previous city administrator, Pat Bridges’ departure to accept a job with the University of Texas at Arlington Police Department.
Interim City Administrator Wayne McKethan brought this recommendation to the council saying that, “Jeremy has shown the experience, education, and knowledge to do an excellent job in the Deputy City Administrator role. He has filled in as city administrator, and although my time here has been short, I have developed a real appreciation for Jeremy’s attitude, work ethic, and knowledge of issues.”
