Stephenville High School held its College Fair Monday morning allowing students to get a glimpse of what colleges have to offer.
Some of the colleges in attendance included Abilene Christian University, Hardin-Simmons University, Louisiana Tech University, Ranger College, Stephen F. Austin State University, Tarleton State University, Texas A&M University, University of Texas, Weatherford College, The Art Institute of Dallas, Southern Methodist University and more.
The United States Marines, Army, Army ROTC (Tarleton), Coast Guard Academy and the Texas Army National Guard were also in attendance.
SHS senior Emily Miller said learning about scholarship information was really helpful at the fair.
“The college fair helped me learn about scholarship opportunities that I didn’t know existed,” she said. “I was most interested in Texas Tech because of their Honors College program.”
SHS junior Caylan Baughn said it was beneficial having real people there to answer questions.
“It helped me understand what each college offered, and what it takes to get in,” Baughn said. “Now I know what I have to do for each college. I thought that A&M was the most interesting. They gave me lots of information about what they offer.”
Sophomore Allissa Adams said she enjoyed seeing what majors the different colleges had to offer.
“It has narrowed down what colleges I might go to,” she said.
Freshman Calista Aardal said she already has her eye on Tarleton State University after attending the fair.
“They confirmed all the things I wanted in a college,” she said. “One example is that I don’t want to move and it’s a smaller college. The most beneficial thing was that they showed us the requirements for each college.”
