This week’s featured pet from Erath County Humane Society is Gemma, a white lab female with orange patches who’s five years old, super friendly and spayed. She’s also microchipped but ECHS Executive Director Diane McCoy says, “She came in as a stray and we haven’t been able to locate the owners, so she’s up for adoption.
“She’s just as sweet as can be and very gentle. She’s also very good with other dogs. We haven’t had her inside for any length of time, so we don’t know if she’s house trained. But she knows the ’sit’ command and goes on a leash well, so someone’s worked with her and she may very well be.”
As far as vaccinations, they don’t know because she came in as a stray, so she’ll have to have her shots.
She added that Gemma is healthy and loves people and other dogs.
“We haven’t had any trouble from Gemma at all. She’s a real sweetheart.”
If you’re interested in adopting a loving, gentle dog, Gemma’s waiting for you at the ECHS, as are a whole bunch of other dogs and cats.
“We’ve had some adoptions, but the weather’s stayed warm so we’re still in kitten season. We’re full with both dogs and cats again like we have been for a lot of this year,” McCoy said.
The shelter’s open from 1-5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. Saturdays. For more information contact McCoy at 254-965-3247, or stop by the ECHS at 891 East Road in Stephenville.
