The final non-district game of the season for Stephenville didn't go as planned as the Yellow Jackets endured a long road trip to Lubbock and were sent home with a 56-14 loss to undefeated Lubbock Monterey.

The Plainsman offense was just too potent Friday night for the Yellow Jackets to keep pace. After holding Monterey to a three and out on their opening possession, the punt was muffed by Stephenville and recovered by the Plainsman who later scored on the ensuing drive.

Things didn't much easier for Stephenville in the first half as they later found themselves trailing 35-0 at halftime.

It wasn't until the third quarter that Stephenville finally found the end zone. Quarterback Easton Jones scampered in to cut the Plainsman's lead to 42-7 in the quarter.

The only other Yellow Jacket score came with 8:20 left in the fourth quarter when Jones hit receiver Conner Schmutz for a 32-yard touchdown.

With the loss, Stephenville falls to 1-5 on the season as they enter their bye week. Their next scheduled game is set for October 14 when they host district rival Brownwood.
