Today is the last day to enter the TGIF Forty-Two Domino Club tournament that will be held at the Stephenville Senior Citizen Center starting at 1 p.m. Friday.

According to tournament organizer, Jan Smith, “We will be continuing the next day at 9:30 a.m. until we’re done. It’s open to the public, the entry fee is $10 per player and the first place prize is $100.”

In case you aren’t familiar with 42, it’s not like the regular game of dominos.

According to Domino-Games.com, “Texas 42, or Forty-Two (or ‘42’), is a domino game that is played like a card game. In fact, unlike most domino games, there is no connecting of dominoes at all.

“The object of the game is to win tricks; 42 is a bidding game. Forty-Two is based on the card game Auction Pitch, and requires considerable skill in bidding and gameplay. 42 can be played by up to seven players, but it is best as four-handed partnership game.”

“We have five tables signed up right now, so we’re looking at about 20 or so players,” Smith said.

The Senior Center is located at 164 East College Street and entry forms can be picked up there. Those forms need to be filled out and turned in at the center by the end of the day. No late entries will be accepted.
