Henry Ford introduced the Model T on Oct. 1, 1908 and between 1908 and 1927 sold some 15 million of them. Now a bunch from Houston-based Space City T’s Club – 75 fully-restored Model T’s to be exact − are heading to Stephenville and will be on display between Wednesday through Saturday.

Kathy Harris, chairwoman of the group, said, “This is a 39-year-old tradition and the second time our group will hold the event in Stephenville; the first time was in 2005. Over 75 Model T Fords and participants from all over Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Florida, California and beyond will be celebrating the history of the Model T in Erath County and the surrounding areas."

The Space City T’s Club was founded in 1974, with the first Texas T Party being held in 1978 as a one-day tour in Fredericksburg.

“This event provided owners-drivers of the Model T’s a chance to come together to drive and enjoy their beautiful antique cars," Harris said. "Through the years the event has grown seeing over 75 Model T’s join the tour and what is now a four-day event. Each year a different Texas city is selected so participants can enjoy the history and culture offered in different areas of the great state of Texas.”

The club has a 1916 Centerdoor that will be celebrating its 100th Birthday. The host hotel for this event is the Holiday Inn, and the group will depart from there each morning to the following destinations:

• Wednesday - to Dublin, Comanche, DeLeon where they will stop at the Terrill’s Antique Car Museum

• Thursday - Granbury, Huckabay with dinner at Stephenville City Park. This will give a great opportunity to see the cars all in one place.

• Friday - they head to Hico, then Glen Rose for the day, ending with a banquet at the Agave.

• Saturday - they will drive out to Ranger for the day to see the antique planes at the 10th Annual Fly-in.

“This is a great opportunity to see and appreciate these wonderful antiques up close,” Harris added. “Feel free to ask questions of the owners and passengers - and yes, it’s OK to take pictures of the cars! We love to share with young and old the stories of these great cars.”
