Smiles could finally be seen on the Stephenville sideline Friday night as they Yellow Jackets managed to win their first game of the season in decisive fashion over Graham.
Running back Krece Nowak was once again the star of the game for Stephenville as he scored four touchdowns Friday, including a 66-yard run on the game's second play.
While the final score shows a comfortable victory for Stephenville, it wasn't easy for much of the game.
Graham battled in the first half and actually held the lead several times, with their last being a 20-15 lead late in the first quarter and a 28-21 lead in the second quarter.
It wasn't until minutes before halftime that Stephenville took the game's first two possession lead courtesy off a 40-yard touchdown reception from Kyle Lindsey and a 20-yard touchdown run by Nowak.
After scoring on their first four possessions, Graham was later shutout in the second half and were held scoreless on their final eight drives.
Overall, the Steers were out-gained by Stephenville, 540 total yards to 377 total yards.
The Yellow Jackets' offense was as balanced as could be as they racked up 255 yards on the ground and threw for 285 yards.
Krece Nowak led all Stephenville players with 261 total yards, including 191 on the ground and 70 yards receiving.
Quarterback Easton Jones finished the night 15-19 for 285 yards and three touchdowns. He also rushed for 38 yards and scored on a 31-yard touchdown run.
His top receiver was Kyle Lindsey who caught two passes for 101 yards and two touchdowns. Cameron Frazier also hauled in four passes and finished with 84 yards and a touchdown.
Stephenville is now 1-4 on the season and will continue play next week when they travel to take on Lubbock Moneterey.
