There wasn’t much pushback from Alvarado Friday afternoon as the Honeybee volleyball team took care of business and swept the Lady Indians.

Alvarado came out the gates quickly and snatched an early 5-1 lead over Stephenville. It took the Honeybees several points to wake up as a team, but they did so and outscored Alvarado 24-7 over the rest of the set to clinch the early victory.

The offensive hot streak continued in the second set for Stephenville as found themselves with an 8-2 lead early on. The Lady Indians did almost manage to tie Stephenville in the set as the countered back and trailed 10-7, but a Honeybee timeout restored the team’s confidence as they claimed a 2-0 lead on their opponents after winning the set 25-14.

Stephenville’s dominance continued in the third set as they kept Alvarado at a distance as they clinched their third straight district win with a 25-12 third set victory.

Senior Nicona Stilwell led the team in kills with 10, while fellow outside hitter Emily Brandon added another four.

Taylor Garber recorded 12 assists and Hailey Martin led the team in digs with nine.

The Honeybees will face off with one of the best 4A teams in the state Tuesday when they host Glen Rose.
