Hop on your motorcycle and get ready to take a scenic ride through the winding roads of Erath County when the Chalk Mountain Lodge hosts its 7th annual Fun Run starting at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the lodge located on County Rd. 198 off Hwy. 67.

Those wanting to participate can sign up at the event with a $20 donation for riders and $10 for passengers.

“We do this to support the lodge and our charities, which is primarily Three Way School. We usually provide Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners for some families and we also provided money for a sound system the school was wanting to purchase,” Jerry Hudson, member of the lodge and event coordinator, said. “This past year, for the first time, we provided two $2,000 scholarships for a couple of graduating seniors from Stephenville High School who also attended Three Way School.”

Kick stands will go up at 10:30 a.m. and after the 120-mile ride through Walnut Springs, Iredell, Carlton, Dublin, Clairette, Duffau and back to the lodge, hot dogs and drinks will be served with a cash drawing for $100, $50 and $25 taking place.

“The thing I look forward to the most is the camaraderie and the diverse bikers that come in,” Hudson said. “It’s always enjoyable to see where they come from, how far they came.”
