A fun new event is sprouting in Downtown Plaza across from Stephenville City Hall at the end of the month. The first-ever Playin’ on the Plaza will be held Thursday, Sept. 29, between 6-9 p.m.

It’s free and Stephenville City Secretary Cindy Stafford says, “It’s not a city event, just a bunch of folks getting together to socialize, listen to some good music and grab something good to eat off the several food trucks we’re inviting to be there.

“We encourage everybody to bring a bottle of wine and lawn chairs and just enjoy it. I hadn’t heard about this kind of thing until recently, but a friend of mine tells me people have these all over Texas and they’ve been to several of them."

The Immediate Blues Band – pictured in the accompanying photo playing a gig recently at Greenwood Saloon in Bluff Dale − will be playing that night and the music starts at 7 p.m.

The local band consists of Carey Fraser, Sam Lopez, Kyle Everett, Wade Whitehead and Wayne Atchley. Vocalist is Stacey Slinger.

Further details are still being worked out at this time and the E-T will update our readers as the event approaches and we know more.
