Today the Stephenville City Council will hold its regularly-scheduled monthly meeting and consider taking action on one of its most important duties: Approving the annual FY Budget of just over $24 million that begins on October 1st.
There will also be a public hearing on a proposed increase in the total tax revenues from properties on the tax roll in the preceding year by 1.74 percent. A second public hearing on the matter will be held at 5:30 p.m. September 13 at City Hall.
Two Public Works items are also on the agenda for discussion and/or action: Street improvements at Hyman and First Streets and an overview of the 2016 Tarleton Methodist Branch Sanitary Sewer Relief Project.
Other agenda items include:
• A report from SEDA Executive Director John R. Hubbard on the group’s FY 2016-2017 Budget.
• The Cross Timbers Fine Arts Council annual report and approval of the FY 2016-2017 budget by Julie Crouch.
• CH2M Hill OMI annual report and consideration of a contract amendment by Steve Carpenter and Johnny Davis of the company. [CH2m OMI provides operation and maintenance services for the City’s wastewater treatment facility.]
• Other general City business items.
The meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. in City Council Chambers at Stephenville City Hall, 298 W. Washington Street. The meeting is open to the public and there is free public parking in the lot across from the building.
