He'd likely trade his award for a win, but Stephenville receiver Conner Schmutz had one heck of a coming out party Friday night against Springtown.

Schmutz had been used sparingly in the season's first game, but after losing receiver Blake Aragon to injury in the first half, Schmutz was propelled into the starting receiver rotation for the rest of the game.

Over that he hauled in five passes for 133 yards (26.6 yards per catch) and a touchdown, including a long reception late in the fourth quarter to set up Stephenville's last touchdown.

"Schmutz has great hands and he was really coming on before he was injured in 7-on-7. He's starting to get back into the groove and we needed someone to step up Friday and he did that," said Stephenville head football coach Greg Winder.
