On Sunday, Sept. 11, Gateway Archery will host the Chris Kyle Memorial Patriot Shootout - a 3-D archery shoot honoring the late Navy Seal Chris Kyle and benefiting the American Valor Foundation - starting at 8 a.m. G.K. Lewallen Ranch outside Stephenville.

The Foundation will select a local hero and pass along the benefits to him or her during a ceremony at the Cowboy Capital of the World PRCA Rodeo at Lone Star Arena on Sept. 23.

Kyle and his friend Chad Littlefield, were gunned down at a shooting range at Rough Creek Lodge on Feb. 2, 2013 by Eddie Ray Routh, who was sentenced to life in prison for the murders.

Cy Cozart, Gateway Archery store manager, added, “Buckles will be awarded to the winners in all five categories. People can pre-register here or at our Fort Worth location at 3733 N. Beach St. – or at 7 a.m. the day of the shoot.”

Shooters will pay $35, pre-register, or $40 the day of and can start the course between 8-10 a.m. Lunch will be served up by Hard 8 BBQ after the shoot with awards, a raffle and auction to follow.
