An Erath County grand jury indicted 16 individuals Wednesday including one man for two counts of theft and two counts of forgery.

Argel Cital, 29, was indicted for theft, $1,500 or more but less than $20,000, a state jail felony; theft from an elderly person, $1,500 or more but less than $20,000, a third degree felony; forgery by passing, a state jail felony; and forgery by passing of an elderly person, a third degree felony.

Cital was arrested and booked into the Erath County Jail on May 6 on a $480,000 bond.

“That gentleman had gone around Dublin persuading people to hand over their insurance checks who had hail damage repairs within the last couple of years. At least one of the victims was elderly,” District Attorney Alan Nash said. “What he would do is persuade them to hand over their insurance check and then forge the names of the payee and/or the mortgage company in order to cash those checks, and then not perform the work. He has cases pending in multiple counties.”
