The Honeybees' second test of the season wasn't an easy one, but it was a hurdle that they cleared Tuesday when they defeated Abilene Cooper in five sets.

The Lady Cougars started the match quickly as they took a 1-0 lead after winning the first set 25-19.

Stephenville did answer though as they claimed the next two sets 25-18, 25-12 to take a 2-1 lead.

Cooper managed to claw one back in the fourth set thanks to a nail biting 25-23 win, but the Honeybees did just enough in the match's final set winning 15-12 to claim their second straight win in the young season.

The Honeybees were led offensively by Jayci Morton who accumulated 16 kills throughout the match. Also hitting double digits in kills was Nicona Stilwell with 14.

Taylor Garber accumulated all but two assists in the match as she recorded 34 in all.

Three Stephenville players recorded double-digit digs, including libero Hailey Martin who led the team with 21, Chloe Goodman added 15 digs and Hannah Huckabee recorded 12.

Stephenville will continue their season Thursday when they travel to take part in the Granbury tournament.
