Mary Laigle is starting her third year as the principal at Gilbert Intermediate, to which she said, “Time goes by too quickly.” She answered some questions about her mission, hobbies and what she’s looking forward to this year.

What is your personal mission as principal?

As a principal my mission is to support my teachers in every way possible so they can be the best they can be. Teachers are the direct link to student success.

What are some hobbies you enjoy?

I love spending time with my husband, children and grandchildren the most! I enjoy going to the movies (not sure if I like the movie or the popcorn the best), riding my horse and raising Brahman cows.

What do you love about Stephenville ISD?

That is a loaded question. I love everything about SISD. I love the vision we have adopted that provides multiple avenues for success for every child. I love the attitude we have taken to keep on trying new things even though we may fail a few times along the way. Most of all, I love the excitement I see in my students faces every day that my teachers instill in them. The students, parents and teachers make Gilbert great!

What are you looking forward to this school year?

Definitely the 1:1 iPad roll out. I am excited for the new challenges and possibilities this brings for teachers to provide daily instruction that challenges students to think creatively, critically, and collaboratively.
