The Stephenville ISD board of trustees will meet Monday afternoon to discuss several agenda items, recognize Mary Laigle - Gilbert Intermediate principal - and hear a report by Superintendent Matt Underwood.
Laigle recently attended a leadership program at Harvard called The Principals’ Center.
“The Principals’ Center offers a variety of professional development programs designed to strengthen your leadership skills for greater impact,” reads The Principals’ Center website. “Our institutes provide you with the time you need to reflect, refocus and recharge.”
The SISD board will also consider approval to publish a notice of a public hearing to discuss the prosed budget and tax rate for 2016. The public hearing is set for Aug. 15.
Underwood will then give a report that will consist of drug testing policy and prices, iChampion, 21st Century grant notification, 2015-2016 STAAR test results, a cheer update and more.
At a previous board meeting in May, Underwood had expressed concern about answers to a drug-related question on a student survey.
“We’re going to look into some drug testing for extracurricular activities,” he said at the previous meeting. “The easiest and most straight forward approach is the hair follicle test, but it’s the most expensive.”
Underwood will once again touch on this subject at Monday’s meeting, but it is unclear at this time on what will be discussed. This will not be an action item.
SISD board members will also go over the fifth and eighth grade STAAR test results and do a comparison and discuss feedback about the 21st Century grant.
