Seating at the Stephenville Public Library just got a little roomier.
Last weekend, the Leadership Stephenville class installed an area with outdoor seating at the library where patrons can enjoy some fresh air while reading a book or enjoying an outdoor movie.
Mary Meredith, executive director of the library, said the new area is something she has wanted for a long time and was thrilled when the class approached her about the project.
“We always wanted an outdoor seating area and we are grateful to the leadership class for doing it for us,” Meredith said. “It will be wonderful for outdoor movies and our story times.”
Jeremy Allen, a member of this year’s leadership class, said the class spent six to seven months planning the project.
“A lot of planning went into it and we had some help from local businesses,” Allen said. “Jay Mills donated the big rock for the seating and Circle J Backhoe donated the small rock. Totelcom donated all the electrical work.”
The class is hosting a special event for the public on Thursday, Aug. 11.
“We are going to have an outdoor movie and show Dumbo,” Allen said. “We will have popcorn and hand out books to the kids.”
Additional details on the event will be made public when they become available.
