The Friends of the Dick Smith Library at Tarleton State University will hold its annual book sale from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. today in the basement of the Tarleton Center.

Hundreds of “new” used books, fiction and nonfiction, will be available in the basement of the Tarleton Center, as well as audio CDs, vinyl records and textbooks. All hard-bound books will be sold for $1 and paperbacks will be 50 cents.

For $10, customers can buy a tote bag filled with books of his/her choice. Purchases may be made using cash, check and credit card (until 4 p.m.).

Proceeds from the book sale allow the library to acquire resources outside its normal budget. In the past, conference room furnishings, display cases, artwork, and equipment for student use (scanners, fax machine) have been acquired through book sale proceeds. Available books are usually duplicates, out-of-date or not within the library’s collection development guidelines.

Visitor parking is available in lot P3 just east of the Tarleton Center, accessible from McIlhaney Street, and lot P30 at the intersection of Lillian and Washington streets.
