One of the area’s most prestigious golf tournaments is quickly approaching. The Ben Hogan Legacy Golf Tournament is scheduled to finally get underway later this week after being rained out in June.

The tournament is scheduled to kick things off Friday with registration and breakfast set for 7 a.m. at Legends Country Club. The four-person scramble is slated to begin at 9 a.m. and will feature a slew of prizes for those taking part.

“I don’t think we have to worry about getting rained out this time,” said event spokesperson Karen Wright. “We’re excited that it’s finally here.”

Among the prizes competitors will be aiming for is a Chevy Spark, an online shopping getaway from Travis Matthew apparel and a set of TaylorMade Speedblade irons. All prizes are sponsored by Bruner Motors.

However, the big draw this year is one that all golf fans will want to take home as an all-expense paid trip to the 2017 Masters will be given away at the tournament’s conclusion.

“The chance for a team to win an all-expenses paid trip to the Masters is one of the really exciting things that we’re going to be doing,” said Wright. “If one of our golfers can take that home then it will be a special night.”

In addition to tournament play and prize giveaways, the Ben Hogan Golf Equipment Company will also be on hand to demonstrate their new clubs.

For those attending, the Ben Hogan Museum is hosting a wine-and-cheese reception on Thursday from 5-8 p.m.

All proceeds from the tournament will go towards the Ben Hogan Museum in Dublin.
