The July 4th holiday is Monday and there will be great family-friendly festivities going on all day long in downtown Stephenville and City Park. 

1. Firecracker 5K and Fun Run benefiting DAV

Get your blood pumping for the Fourth of July holiday by entering a 5K and fun run benefiting the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Chapter 234. Check-in/late registration begins at 6:30 a.m. with the race kicking off at 7:30 a.m. at Stephenville City Park. The 5K will be $30 ($35 on race day) and the fun run will be $20 ($25 on race day). Complimentary fruit and refreshments will be provided for runners by Greer’s Ranch Cafe. People of all fitness levels are welcome. For more information call 254-918-5660.

2. Independence Day parade

Round up the family and head to downtown Stephenville for the annual Fourth of July Celebration Parade starting at 9 a.m. from City Park. The parade will leave City Park, go north on Graham Street, west on Washington Street and end at Harbin Drive. Floats will turn south on Harbin, east on Long Street to return to City Park. Floats will be introduced by announcers at the downtown plaza. 

3. BBQ, Bands and Bottle Rockets on the Bosque

Celebrate the holiday at the BBQ, Bands and Bottle Rockets on the Bosque event from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. at Stephenville City Park. The festival will include a BBQ cook-off, live music, a kids area, homemade ice cream, food vendors and more. For more information visit

4. Texstar Ford Summer Nights Concert Series

Stick around City Park after the festival for the Texstar Ford Summer Nights Concert Series featuring Larry Joe Taylor, Davin James and The Tejas Brothers. Musicians will take the stage at 6 p.m. at Birdsong Amphitheater. 

5. Fireworks show

Once the Texstar Ford concert wraps up, fireworks will begin at 10 p.m. in City Park. The fireworks are sponsored by the Stephenville Optimist Club and SPARD.
