The Stephenville Yellow Jacket position players continued their 7-on-7 season Tuesday as they took part in the Burleson league play and finished 1-1.
Stephenville faced off against Cleburne, who they play in the regular season in August, and came away with a 24-12 victory.
After an early touchdown completion by the Yellow Jackets, Cole Pettit scored for the Stephenville defense on a pick six, while Holden Haile and Blake Aragon also hauled in touchdown passes.
In the night's second game, Stephenville's offense got off to a slow start as Burleson ran out to a 20-6 lead.
However, the offense woke up and scored on a solid drive, which was followed up by a Mason Holstein interception. Moments later, quarterback Easton Jones once again found Aragon for a touchdown to tie the game at 20.
Unfortunately, Burleson managed to score a clutch late game touchdown with less than a minute left to take a seven-point lead. That led to a couple of late deep passes by Stephenville which fell incomplete to end the game.
Stephenville will continue their 7-on-7 season this weekend when they take part in the Brownwood State Qualifying tournament.
