If you’ve been in the Stephenville ISD administration building lately then you've probably noticed some new faces on the auditorium walls.
Pictures of SISD students pointing and smiling have been hung all around the outside walls of Bond Auditorium where the SISD board of trustees hold their meetings, among other school events.
“I actually heard about a similar idea about a board room at a school district in San Antonio,” said SISD Superintendent Matt Underwood. “I thought it would be neat to expand the concept to the central administration hallway.”
There are photos of 55 students — from kindergarten through 12th grade - which is about half of what the district is wanting to hang.
“I let the principals pull a group that was a representative sample of our student body as a whole,” Underwood said. “We then sifted through those pictures and tried to pick the most expressive ones.”
The photos were taken by Dave Polasek and more will be added and rotated in years to come.
“We still have some pictures to add next year and then we will probably rotate every three to four years,” Underwood said.
The pictures have been placed around the building as a reminder to district employees.
“These kids are depending on us to take care of them, we need to keep them the central focus,” Underwood said. “We need to make sure we keep that the main thing, the main thing.”
