Hurrah for Morgan Mill!

There are two students of the month for December; Henley Ballinger and River Felan. Henley has attended MM since kindergarten. She has been busy with UIL competition this last week. She placed fifth in spelling and third in maps, graphs and charts. Her favorite subject is reading. She likes to read Harry Potter books and warrior’s books. She is on the A honor roll and is active in 4-H. The first of January she will be busy with the Erath County 4-H Fair. Rabbits, lambs, heifers, and horses are her animals that she will be showing. Last year, she won ribbons for her art work in the Youth Fair. Henley plays trumpet in the band and likes to play soft ball. Proud mom and dad are Allison and Tony. They will be enjoying Christmas at home this year. Congratulations to a great young lady.

River Felan has also been in MM since kindergarten. He placed first in music memory in the UIL contest and his team came in second. The elementary grades placed second in the overall contest. Lipan, who came in first, is twice the size of MM. Since the scoring is done on total points, MM is pleased with their accomplishments. River’s favorite subject is math. He has perfect attendance and is on the A/B honor roll. He likes to play Pokémon and has one dog named “Bow Jangles”. He plays the baritone in the band. Mom and dad are Christy and Jim. They, too, will be staying in Morgan Mill for the holidays. We are all proud for our Morgan Mill fantastic kids.

Today at 7 p.m. is the Christmas Choir program at Morgan Mill Baptist Church. Looking ahead, Christmas Eve there will be two opportunities for church services. At 6 pm Morgan Mill Methodist will have a combined music and candle light service. At 7 pm the Morgan Mill Baptist Church will have their service. Christmas day the churches will have their traditional services at the regular times. What better place to celebrate the holiday than attending church of your choice.

On Dec. 27, your local line dancers will be starting a beginners class on Tuesday and Thursday at 9 at the Community Center. This is a good way to start the New Year with an easy low impact exercise class. The music is inspiring and gets you out of your chairs. Come have some fun with your neighbors.

Margie Hartsfield will be the first program for Community Dinner on Jan. 5. She is always entertaining and great to listen to. Bring your favorite dish and visit with your friends at 6:30.
