Hurrah for Morgan Mill!
If you missed Saturday night in Morgan Mill with the annual Volunteer Fire Department fundraiser, don’t fret. You still have time to send your check in to help finance the fire equipment that will be purchased for the new tanker fire truck. The post office box is 13. The guys are anxious to get it up and running soon. You still have time to get a yard sign or cap with your donations.
It is hard to believe, but it is already turkey time in Morgan Mill. Thursday, Nov. 17, is the annual turkey dinner at the Community Supper. President Bob Beckett and Marie will provide the turkey and you are asked to bring the vegetables and desserts. Secretary Debra Parker has graciously volunteered to bring the dressing once again. Come and start your eating frenzy with your friends.
Next Friday, Nov. 18, is the famous turkey dinner at Morgan Mill School. From 11 until 1 the much talked about free dinner will be ready. The teachers, staff, and kids have worked all week trying to make this event bigger than last years. Fort Hood soldiers are coming and we all hope for good weather.
If you need a dinner delivered to a shut-in, please call the school sometime this week. Last year the kids served over 800 folks from around the area. This dinner is free so you do not have to bring anything.
This tradition is well known so invite your friends and get the Thanksgiving season started. If you saw your Co-op magazine this month, you saw the Thanksgiving dinner spotlighted. I always can recognize David Spindor in his hat in the picture
Morgan Mill Baptist Church will have their traditional turkey dinner on Sunday, Nov. 20. The church will provide the meat, you are asked to bring the vegetables and dessert. This is a time of remembering and giving thanks for all of our blessings.
The Morgan Mill food pantry located at the Morgan Mill Methodist Church is once again providing Thanksgiving dinners for anyone who is in need. The complete dinner will be passed out on Wednesday, Nov. 23.
Remember that the pantry is open every Wednesday from 3:30-5:30. The only requirement is that you present an ID. Call Sandy Sandstrom if you have an organization or group that might be able to help with the distribution or donation of canned goods that will be needed during this holiday season.
