The Daughters of the Republic of Texas held its annual convention in Addison on May 12-14. The theme was “Celebrating 125 Years of Preserving Texas History.”  

Bosque River chapter was represented by five members: President Toni Morgan, vice president Jane 

Klein, registrar Judith D’Amico, CRT sponsor Joy Duncan, and member Charlene Lietz.  

The chapter was awarded six-star status. 

The requirements include having a chapter of the Children of the Republic of Texas, presenting programs on Texas history to various groups, donating books on Texas history or Texas flags to schools, celebrating Texas Honor Days and entering the DRT History Museum’s art contest.  

Member Joy Duncan not only entered the art contest, but she won at district and state level.

Members of DRT are direct descendants of men or women who honorably served the Republic of Texas prior to February 1846.
