With profound sadness we announce the passing of Joan Violet Peterson, our loving and devoted mother, wife, and friend to all whose lives she touched, on September 30, 2022. She left us while sleeping peacefully at her residence in Stephenville, Texas. She was in her 70th year. She was born in San Antonio, Texas February 23, 1952. She was the wife of Stephen Peterson and beloved mother of Shannon Minter and Buddy Peterson. She was the proud grandmother of Dustin Minter, Brittany Sanchez, Jake Peterson, Taylor Minter, and Hunter Peterson, and great grandmother to Zee Sanchez, Saylor Peterson, Abrie Sanchez, Stetson Peterson and Banner Brown; Sister to, Lana Summers of San Antonio and Daca Miller of Seguin, Texas. Predeceased by her Father, Leo Paul Flores and Mother, Goldie Velma Young, her brothers Robert Shannon, Buddy Shannon, Jimmy Shannon and sisters Peggy Jean Shannon and Lena Flores. Joanie lived a full life as a wonderful wife, mother, homemaker and realtor. She loved to cook, kept an immaculate house, and loved hosting family dinners. She was a fierce woman and a fighter. She was a breast cancer survivor, and a liver transplant recipient. ALS was the only fight she didn’t win. Most of all, Joanie loved her husband and her family. We are grateful and blessed to know her love and love her back. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts. To her Daughter, she leaves her strength and importance of family. To her Son, she leaves her tender heart. To her husband, she leaves her undying love and unfathomable gratitude for their two children and all of their grandchildren and great grandchildren and their 54 years of marriage. Visitation was Monday, October 3, 2022 at Huckabay Baptist Church, 398 County Road 420, Stephenville, TX 76401. The funeral was at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial followed at the New Gordon Cemetery under the direction of Colonial Funeral Home of Irving 606 West Airport Freeway Irving, TX 75062.
