Texas is no stranger to droughts, but the eleven months from October 2010 through July 2011 have been the driest in Texas since 1895. Despite burn bans and heightened awareness, extreme wild fires have been taking over the state, creating the worst fire season in state history. As of August 3rd, local firefighters throughout Texas had responded to over 16,368 fires which have burned close to 3 and a half million acres.

Coupled with the stress of failing water supplies, these men and women are exhausted and, at times, pushed to their limits. Add to that the financial burden of sustaining these local (mostly volunteer) fire departments and the entire situation becomes desperate.

After learning about successful fundraising efforts which have raised several hundreds of thousands dollars in Ellenboro, West Virginia for their local fire department, a group of us from LF Ranch, Kenney Financial Services and Main Street Resources decided to develop a similar event benefitting all the fire departments within Eastland County: Carbon, Cisco, Desdemona, Eastland, Gorman, Olden, Ranger, and Rising Star.


Fire Fest 2011 will be held Saturday, October 29th at Lone Cedar Country Club in Eastland , TX , beginning at 5:00pm. Fire Fest will include BBQ dinner, live entertainment including Rodney Hayden and Charla Corn, dancing, games, door prizes, and a raffle drawing for a Polaris Ranger and much more.


We believe this will be a fun and exciting way to support our local fire services, but it will take a lot of volunteers to make it a success.

RAFFLE TICKET-$100- Admission, dinner, band, and entered into raffle drawing

BURN BAN TABLE- $300 - Reserved table of 8 Fire Fest tickets (standard price $400)


T-shirts for sale prior to the event at the local Fire Departments as well as on site at the event $15 each in black or white "In Honor of all those who fought for our county spring 2011."
