Baylor, BYU meet for final time as nonconference opponents

Baylor and BYU meet as nonconference foes for the final time with the Cougars set to join the Big 12 next season. The Bears won 38-24 last season in Waco, Texas, on their way to a 12-win season that included a conference championship and a Sugar Bowl victory. They beat the University at Albany 69-10 in the opener. The Cougars are coming off a 50-21 win at South Florida. BYU has a 6-8 mark against ranked teams under coach Kalani Sitake, including 4-3 at LaVell Edwards Stadium.

Texas vs. No. 1, plus 2 future Big 12 rivals and an old one

Texas hosts its future SEC foe No. 1 Alabama in the first regular season meeting between the two teams in 100 years. They did meet in the BCS national championship game at the end of the 2009 season. The Crimson Tide won that game for the first of their six national championships under Nick Saban. In other Big 12 games Saturday, ninthranked Baylor and Texas Tech play future Big 12 teams that are ranked. Baylor goes to No. 21 BYU and Tech hosts No. 25 Houston. Kansas State renews a border-state rivalry with former Big 12 member Missouri.
