The Stephenville High School girls’ and boys’ soccer teams both claimed District 5-4A championships after hard-fought one-goal wins over Brownwood on Friday, March 7, at Lem Brock Field.
The Stephenville Yellow Jackets aren’t taking their season one game at a time, even with new head coach Alec Bryant and six new position starters. Instead, the Jackets are taking the season two weeks at a time.
SPRINGTOWN – The Stephenville Yellow Jackets won eight events – including three gold medals by Tristian Gentry and two by Jacoby Tooley – and claimed the team championship at the Brad Legan Friends & Family Invitational hosted by Springtown ISD on March 6. The Yellow Jackets scored 128 points while host Springtown finished second with 109 points and Everman was third with 91 points in the 12-team boys’ field.
It’s not a reach or hype to call the Stephenville Honeybees a loaded team for this year’s District 6-4A softball race.
STEPHENVILLE— Bare back rider Roedy Farrell, saddle bronc rider Coleman Shallbetter and goat tyer Tori Brower each captured first place as Tarleton State University’s men’s and women’s rodeo teams swept top honors at the Odessa College National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association (NIRA) spring season opener over the weekend. Farrell, who scored a 168.5 on rides of 86.5 and 82 points, and Shallbetter, who posted a two-head 167.5, including a finals-best 84, led Tarleton State to a 585-point first-place outburst.
Stephenville’s Lucy Espinoza, Madi Rust and Brinley Hall were voted to the first team on the recently released 2025 All-District 6-4A Girls Basketball Team.
BROCK – The Stephenville Honeybees won the Brock Eagle Relays track and field meet on Thursday, Feb. 27, while the Yellow Jackets finished third in the boys’ division.
The Stephenville High School soccer teams split with Gatesville in their Feb. 25 District 5-4A games.
