Texans begin NCAA full-fledged DI campaign

Texans are here after four years of Division I reclassification, and Tarleton State soccer looks to showcase that in their start of the regular season. Tarleton State soccer began its 2024 season on the road in San Antonio against Incarnate Word on Thursday. The Texans conclude the first week of the regular season at Texas A&M – Corpus Christi on Sunday at 1 p.m. They will continue nonconference play with a busy next week, hosting three games.

WAC schedule complete for Tarleton men's, women's basketball

STEPHENVILLE — The Western Athletic Conference revealed Tarleton Men's and Women's Basketball's conference schedule for the 2024-25 season Monday. Both teams will compete in a 16-game slate in conference play, hosting eight home games in the final basketball season at Wisdom Gymnasium. The Texans men's and women's team will play the same school on the same day, with one team playing at home and one team playing away against the same opponent. Starting WAC play with a short trip at UT Arlington (Jan. 4), Tarleton Women's Basketball returns to Stephenville to play a pair of home games against Southern Utah (Jan. 9) and Utah Tech (Jan. 11).

Tarleton football home opener to be broadcast on ESPN2

STEPHENVILLE — Broadcast details for Tarleton State Football's season opener have been altered, as the game will now be played on ESPN2. Tarleton State's 2024 opener against McNeese on Aug. 24 will kick off at 2:30 p.m. at Memorial Stadium and will be shown to a nationwide audience on ESPN2. The nationally broadcast game will mark Tarleton Football's first time on linear television on ESPN platforms. Tarleton and McNeese were previously scheduled to play on ESPNU, before Wednesday's announcement. The matchup between the Texans and Cowboys is one of just seven Week 0 games across NCAA Division I between FBS and FCS. Williams signs professional basketball contract

STEPHENVILLE — Former Tarleton State Texan guard Lue Williams has signed a pro contract to play professional basketball with Lahti Basketball in the Korisliiga League, the highest tier league in Finland. Williams becomes the fifth Texan in the last two years to sign a pro contract joining Shakur Daniel, Tre Gipson, Tahj Small and Rod Bown in the professional ranks. "Great news to hear about Lue and the contract," said head coach Billy Gillispie. "It is every player's dream to play at the professional level and Lue is very deserving of this opportunity. He has been a great Texan.
