STEPHENVILLE — Tarleton State Basketball will be back on the hardwood soon, and to help celebrate the start of the season, Midnight Madness will kick things off a month from today. Tarleton Athletics announced Tuesday that Midnight Madness will be held on Thursday, Oct. 17, at Wisdom Gym to unofficially signify the beginning of the Texan Men's and Women's Basketball seasons. It will be one of the most exciting Midnight Madness events to date, with a packed schedule from start to finish. As always, students are welcome to line up outside Wisdom Gym to make sure they get the best seats available ahead of doors opening at 11 p.m. Tarleton Athletics will provide music and make the outside atmosphere enjoyable before the event begins at 11:15 p.m. The first 1,000 into Wisdom Gym will receive special Midnight Madness T-shirts, plus light sticks will be available to help students and fans make Wisdom Gym glow. DJ Quan will be back on scene to make the gym an electric atmosphere pregame, along with performances by Tarleton State Cheer, Texan Stars, and more. At midnight, the Tarleton State men's and women's basketball teams will be introduced, along with the coaching staffs. On-court activities will include special games featuring students, men's basketball and women's basketball players. The women's basketball team will host a three-point contest, followed by a men's basketball team dunk show during warm-ups, immediately followed by a men's basketball scrimmage. To close the night, Tarleton Athletics has partnered with Loop Rawlins. The former "America's Got Talent" performer will thrill the Wisdom Gym crowd with his act of trick roping, whip cracking and fancy gun spinning. Midnight Madness is an in-person only event and will not be streamed. Attendance is free to the public and student body. No tickets are necessary.
