Toyota ShareLunker program completes monumental collection season

ATHENS – The 2022 Toyota ShareLunker collection season claimed its spot as one of the best in program history. Anglers contributed 24 ShareLunkers from nine different lakes across the state, surpassing 2021’s impressive total of 23 Legacy fish. This season nearly matched 1995’s program record of 27 during a January through March collection timespan.

Leadership Stephenville Class of 2020 graduates after challenging season

STEPHENVILLE - The Leadership Stephenville Class of 2020 kicked off in the fall of 2019 with a team building day on the Tarleton Challenge Course followed by programs covering city government, county government and non-profit organizations. The spring of 2020 put a hitch in the plans for the class when the COVID outbreak caused extended closures. After numerous virtual sessions, scheduling and cancelling and then rescheduling of program days to ensure the class was able to benefit from in-person behind the scenes tours of major community partners, the class finally concluded their year and beyond of leadership development and community education.

First regular season games for soccer, volleyball begins season with Block Party

Tarleton State University Sports Information More history in the making as Texan Soccer hits the road for their first regular season games and Texan Volleyball hosts their Block Party 2-set scrimmage. There will be three games total in Tarleton sports this week, beginning with the Texan Soccer team taking on North Dakota State on Friday in Thibodaux, Louisiana, in the Lester Bimah Battle on the Bayou.

Honeybees go 5-2 at Wimberley Tex-Fest tourney

WIMBERLEY — The Stephenville Honeybees finished off the Wimberley Tex-Fest Volleyball Tournament 5-2 overall in the two-day event and placed second in the silver bracket. The Honeybees (6-2), went 2-1 on the first day, with wins over NBCA and Burnet and loss to Spring Hill in bracket play on Friday and they beat Navarro, Kaufman and San Antonio Keystone on Saturday before falling to Pieper in the silver bracket title match.

Jackets have plenty of weapons on both sides of the ball

The Stephenville Yellow Jackets lost several all-district, all-region and all-state football players on both sides of the ball from their 16-0 state championship team. Despite the losses, Stephenville football coach Sterling Doty said there are still plenty of arrows in the quiver on either side of the ball as the No. 1 Yellow Jackets open their title defense.
