Watch out, Democrats, abortion ruling may help Republicans

WASHINGTON — Democrats seem convinced that if the Supreme Court does in fact overturn Roe v. Wade, the decision would provide them with a political lifeline before the November midterm elections. Americans might disapprove of their performance on crime, immigration, inflation, the economy and national security — but when it comes to abortion, Sen. Charles E. Schumer, D-N.Y., says Republicans are "on the wrong side of history and on the wrong side of the American people."

As Texans celebrate the moms in our lives with flowers, brunch, or a FaceTime call, we should also take a moment on Mother’s Day to commit to ensuring Texas moms get the health care they need. There are a number of steps policymakers should take, but one critical proposal has been championed by legislators from Texas House Speaker Dade Phelan to Representative Toni Rose and 66 Texas organizations ranging from the Texas Medical Association to my organization, Texans Care for Children.
