Ansell: We have to serve God in our mundane, ordinary lives, too
I work from home and I am getting ready for Sunday’s sermon. I keep thinking (and praying) about what I should tell people when I step behind the iPad. What do they really need and what will really change their life.

Green: Post-election thoughts
It’s a few days after election day here in the U.S, and it’s always hard to know what to say. As a writer, I want to be encouraging and compassionate.

Ansell: Remember, real people make mistakes
I remember years ago discussing communion crackers (life of a pastor). We had been using the soft crackers that tasted a lot like Styrofoam, they kind of melted in your mouth. I think there was a general consensus that crisp crackers are best.

Clements: I can’t do this by myself
There comes a point in time when we suddenly realize we cannot do it all on our own. There are just some mountains to high, some gorges to deep and some challenges and circumstances too big for us to carry.

Ansell: Maybe there is hope for me this holiday season
I’m not a fan of the holiday season. I’m a cross between Scrooge and the Grinch. I’m not bragging, I’m confessing.

Green: Preparing for Fall
According to the weather lady, this weekend is one of the last chances I’ll have to swim. It’s supposed to be in the upper 90s on Sunday, but after that, we’ll see highs in the 60s and 70s.

Clements: Make a ripple
It's your turn to make a ripple in the water. You can make a difference! Your thoughts, everything you do, every action you take makes a difference in some form or fashion! It is like throwing stones into still water and watching the rippling effects as each little, tiny wave moves across the still water.

Ansell: The battle is in our heads
It’s easy to compare our lives to the lives of others and social media even encourages it. Someone said, “Comparison is the thief of joy.” The danger of comparison is that it can lead us to feelings of anxiety, inadequacy and dissatisfaction.
