With the hot dry days, the horses loved the water. All afternoon they had played and pawed at the water tank. The water sloshed from side to side so much so that it splashed on the ground making a muddy mess.
We all know that one person who loves to host parties. Whether it’s a casual get-together or a full-out gala, that person seems to know how to create a memorable event that makes guests feel at ease, connects people, and builds memories to last a lifetime.
The week is winding down. It has been a hectic week. What had I accomplished? What had I learned? What had I done to make this week any better or different than any other one? What had transpired to make me a more thoughtful and caring person?
I live in the country, down a rural, dead-end farm road far away from city lights and traffic. Until recently, I’ve enjoyed the peaceful existence this lifestyle brought.
October is the month where everyone tries to scare me. They plant ghosts and goblins and witches and skeletons in their front yard. And, yes, if you’re into property values, then clutter is indeed a bit scary.
I had been up since before daylight. Every morning for the last few days a black-tailed hawk had swooped down among my chickens and carried off a baby chick.
I swear I am losing my mind. First, I couldn't find my car keys then I couldn't find my brief case and now my cell phone was lost.
Many traditions abound in October. Most, it seems, circle round in anticipation of Halloween. Some traditions are seasonal (harvest time), others are decorative (mind the pumpkin), and one is absolutely inexplicable.
