Gordon Museum hosting art making event

AUSTIN — The Stephenville Yellow Jackets’ 4x200-meter relay foursome of Simon Elliston, Tristian Gentry, Willis Jackson and CJ Spellmeier posted a time of 1:27.87 and broke the school record while finishing sixth at the May 1 UIL Class 4A State Track and Field Meet. Stephenville’s 1:27.87 edged the previous school record of 1:27.98 set in 2012.

Erath County voters elected new city officials in Dublin and narrowly passed one bond proposition and narrowly defeated the other for Bluff Dale ISD during the May 3 election.

STEPHENVILLE — The Tarleton Athletics Hall of Fame induction ceremony, presented by Tanglewood Pharmacy, May 3, featured the 2025 class consisting of five individuals earning their rightful place in the prestigious club. The Springtown Lady Porcupines outlasted the Stephenville Honeybees in last week’s Class 4A Division I area softball series played May 1-2 at Weatherford College. After the Honeybees won the first game 9-4, the Porcupines won Games 2 and 3 by 12-9 and 6-4.

The Stephenville Yellow Jackets, a baseball team that advanced to the regional championship series in each of the last four years, finished 2-8 in district and missed the playoffs this season.

The Stephenville softball team was looking to redeem itself as the Class 4A Division I playoffs began last week. The Honeybees accomplished that goal — at least for the bidistrict round — with a 6-4 and 22-7 sweep of a best-of-three series against the Big Spring Steers.

MS Trail Ride set for May 3 The Cowboy Capital MS Trail Ride will be celebrating its 28th MS Trail Ride, which is a fundraiser for Multiple Sclerosis and was the first trail ride in the nation to be sanctioned by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society as an official fundraiser. The event is set for 7 a.m.

Stephenville High School Area Champion Proficiency Awards and Star Americans were announced this week at Area IV Degree Check.

STEPHENVILLE — Tarleton State University’s rodeo teams closed the regular season in style this past weekend, each nailing down National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association Southwest Region titles at the 59th Annual Tarleton Stampede.
