Thank you to the 12 volunteer firefighters from Bluff Dale (6), Morgan Mill (3) and Selden (3) that took time away from jobs/families to get to the Stephenville Department of Public Safety office to take their written exam and driving test.

The Western Athletic Conference announced this week its full list of 2022 Academic All-WAC honorees from the spring season. This covered baseball, softball, men’s and women’s golf, men’s and women’s tennis and men’s and women’s outdoor track and field. In addition, the WAC announced its freshmen/transfer academic teams for the fall and winter sports.

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Joe Biden is bestowing the nation’s highest military honor to four Army soldiers for their heroism above and beyond the call of duty during the Vietnam War. Biden presented the Medal of Honor to Specialist Five Dwight W. Birdwell, Specialist Five Dennis M. Fujii, retired Major John J. Duffy as well as Staff Sergeant Edward N. Kaneshiro, who was given the award posthumously. Speaking in the East Room of the White House on Tuesday, Biden praised their heroism and lamented that they hadn’t received appropriate recognition until now. “Today,” he said, “we’re setting the record straight.”

STEPHENVILLE — Tarleton State University Professor Dr. Fei Wang in the Department of Mechanical, Environmental and Civil Engineering and his collaborator, Dr. Jie Huang at UT San Antonio, were recently awarded a grant by the Texas Department of Transportation.
