Sprite is a 3- to 4-year-old female Lab mix. She is a very friendly lady that loves people. She is a little strong on a leash but will not drag you around. Since being here poor Sprite hasn’t had a single person show interest in her. She is generally very sweet and would love a nice home to call her own. Sprite is spayed, fully vaccinated and microchipped. Unfortunately, Sprite is heartworm positive. She has been started on treatment, but her adopter would need to discuss treatment with their veterinarian. Sprite has been here since 1/31/22. Lucy is 4-year-old female domestic shorthair. She is fantastic with children and new people. She loves scratches and head pets the most. She is litterbox trained and does well when left alone. She is spayed and microchipped. Lucy does not get along with other animals and will be need to be the only animal in the home. NEW YORK (AP) — Fiction by Nobel laureate Olga Tokarczuk and the book-length edition of the “1619 Project” are among the nominees for Kirkus Prizes, $50,000 honors given in three competitive categories.

Several Erath County 4-Hers recently competed at various fairs and contests and brought home plenty of accolades. Lyla Dorris and Hadley Dorris recently competed in the West Texas Fair in Abilene.

The Bosque River Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas will have its first meeting of the 2022-23 season on Tuesday, Sept. 13 at 2 p.m.

The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service Virtual Nature Club will start Sept. 19. The online series for youth will provide virtual “campers” with lessons, videos, discussions and hands-on activities.
