The Bosque River Chapter of the Children of the Republic of Texas met on Sunday, Nov. 20, at Squaw Creek Cemetery in Somervell County.
DOG OF THE WEEK FOR NOV. 21: BLANCA
Blanca is an 11-month-old female Aussie/Catahoula mix. She can be timid when being approached and will usually crawl her way toward you with a cute little smile on her face. She is sweet as she can be with people! She loves toys and will usually carry a squeaky toy when she gets very excited or happy. She does seem to be housetrained, but will have an accident if not kept on a schedule. Blanca is spayed, fully vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm negative and on prevention.
CHRISTMAS RECIPE Stollen
I spent several years in Germany when I was in the army. I spent 4 of my 9 years in the army traveling through different European countries when I wasn’t deployed. One year, I discovered something that went beyond my wildest dreams, and has since become one of my favorite holiday desserts, Stollen, or Christmas Stollen.
CHRISTMAS STOLLEN
• • 1 tablespoon of active dry yeast • 2.5 cups of bread flour • 1/3 cup of sugar • 1/3 cup of butter, softened • 1 large egg • 1/2 tablespoon salt • 2/3 cup diced candied citron • 1/3 cup currants • 1/3 cup golden raisins • 1/3 cup candied cherries, quartered • 6 oz marzipan • 1 tablespoon confectioners’ sugar • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon .
MARZIPAN Ingredients
• • 1/2 pound finely chopped blanched almonds • 2 egg whites • 1/2 teaspoon salt. • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract Directions 1.
